The Summer School 2026 continued with a series of lectures, student presentations, and collaborative activities focusing on mathematics, cryptography, post-quantum cryptography, and cybersecurity. The program brought together researchers, academics, and students from different institutions in Indonesia and abroad.

Monday, July 20, 2026:

The activities at Universitas Gadjah Mada featured three sessions covering mathematical cryptography, blockchain technology, and statistical inference. Dr. Amir Hamzah shared insights into mathematical cryptography, cryptanalysis, RSA-type cryptosystems, and cryptology research in Malaysia. Prof. Kim Jai-Hoon introduced the fundamentals of blockchain, covering the advent of blockchain technology and Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies, and the evolution of blockchain technology. Meanwhile, Dr. Zhu Tianming presented “Statistical Inference for Multivariate Functional Data,” introducing participants to statistical methods for analyzing multivariate functional data. Together, the sessions provided participants with diverse perspectives on mathematical and computational approaches to modern digital technologies and cybersecurity.

The afternoon concluded with student presentations on contemporary issues in digital security. Luthfi Hakim Panuntun presented “Privacy Minefield,” while David Mohamed Koroma presented “The Influence of AI-Driven Governance Models for Regulatory Compliance in Digital Enterprises.” These presentations highlighted the growing importance of privacy, artificial intelligence, governance, and regulatory compliance in digital environments.

Tuesday, July 21, 2026:

The session at Universitas Gadjah Mada featured further by Dr. Zhu Tianming on “Statistical Inference for Multivariate Functional Data” and Prof. Kim Jai-Hoon, who continued his discussion of Blockchain Basics, covering the advent of blockchain technology and Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies, and the evolution of blockchain technology. The program was complemented by student presentations addressing emerging challenges in cybersecurity and mathematical cryptography, providing participants with opportunities to explore current research topics and applications in these fields.

Dasrat Rai Meghwar presented “The Evolution of Major Cryptocurrency Scams: An Analysis of Emerging Fraud Patterns and Future Challenges.” Ahmad Balya Izzuddin discussed “From Algebraic Cryptanalysis to Cipher Design: A Research Journey in Mathematical Cryptography,” while Gilang Mardani presented “Implementation Threshold Cryptography for Autonomous Network Defense.” Together, the presentations demonstrated the diverse ways mathematical concepts and cryptographic techniques are connected to current cybersecurity challenges.

Wednesday, July 22, 2026 — Museum Sandi:

The Summer School then moved to Museum Sandi for a program combining historical and educational activities. Participants gathered in the morning and took part in a historical walk followed by a museum tour, providing an opportunity to learn about the development and history of cryptography.

The afternoon featured a talkshow with Dr. Nanang Susyanto, Head of the Department of Mathematics at Universitas Gadjah Mada, and Dr. Sri Rosdiana from PoliteknikSiber dan Sandi Negara. The day concluded with a free afternoon for participants.

Thursday, July 23, 2026:

The program returned to Universitas Gadjah Mada with a series of sessions connecting mathematics and post-quantum cryptography. Uha Isnaini, Ph.D. and Dr. Amir Hamzah presented “The Beauty of Mathematics Behind Post Quantum Cryptography Algorithm.” This was followed by a session involving Dr. Nopendri and Dr. Amir Hamzah, and a further session by Dr. Vu Van Khu.

The afternoon student presentation session featured three topics. Nguyen Thi Ha Trang presented “Analytical and Experimental Analysis of Hash Algorithms in Authentication Practices.” Ria Lestari presented “PQC-VPN: A Windows VPN Client with NIST Post-Quantum Cryptographic Algorithms,” while Sri Rosdiana presented “DCT-Based Steganography Using a Hybrid AES-GCM andML-KEM Scheme.” These presentations explored applications of cryptographic algorithms in authentication, VPN technology, and secure information hiding.

Friday, July 24, 2026:

Friday began with an Algebra Joint Seminar, providing a dedicated opportunity for academic exchange in algebra. Following the seminar and Friday prayer, participants continued with a series of cultural and social activities.

The afternoon included a visit to Mbah Moeh Restaurant for lunch, followed by historical trekking to Barong Temple, Dawangsari Temple, and Breksi Cliff. Participants also had the opportunity to enjoy the sunset near Ijo Temple before concluding the day with a gala dinner.

Mathematics for Future Digital Security: Workshop for School Teachers:

The Summer School program continued on Saturday, July 25, 2026, with a special workshop entitled “Mathematics for Future Digital Security: A Workshop on Cryptography and Cybersecurity for School Teachers.” The workshop was held at UNIMMA Campus2, Magelang, and brought together school teachers from across Magelang Regency.

The first workshop session was moderated by Abdullah Hanifan, M.Kom. from Telkom University, with Dr. Amir Hamzah from Universiti Putra Malaysia and Dr. Prastudy Mungkas Fauzi from Nanyang Technological University as speakers.

The second session was moderated by Abdullah Hanifan and featured Uha Isnaini, Ph.D. from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Dr. Sri Rosdiana from Politeknik Siber dan Sandi Negara, and Dimas Sasongko, M.Eng. from Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang.

The workshop connected mathematical ideas with practical themes in cryptography and cybersecurity, while providing school teachers with an opportunity to engage directly with academics and practitioners working in the field.
